The United Kingdom has once again become a most sought-after study abroad destination to students from across the globe and especially from India. The country has seen massive growth from 2021 in the number of students wanting to study in the UK. If one has to presume this sudden increase could only be because of the UK government policy for the new graduate route that allows international graduate students to stay and work in the UK for two years post their studies. However it is not just the graduate programs that students are applying to, the data shows a 30 percent increase in the number of undergraduate applications despite the ongoing pandemic.
As universities in the UK offer a wide range of courses at both graduate and undergraduate levels, international students have more options to choose. They also have the advantage of specializing in core areas of their chosen subjects as they don't find such specializations at the universities in their home country. The entry requirements to most UK universities are not that hard, but at the same time, they have a very stringent process in the selection criteria. You have an offer letter from a university or College from the Uk is just one step out of the many steps that a student needs to clear to confirm admission to the university. To apply for a student visa to the UK, a student must first receive a confirmation of acceptance for studies from the respective university. The documents required for the CAS vary from university to university. Universities ask students to submit their financial evidence to release the CAS whereas, some universities only need the tuition fee deposit to be paid to the university.
A student has to be a minimum of 16 years of age to apply for a student visa to the United Kingdom.
Documents required to apply for the student visa:
1. Academic documents
A student must submit all the relevant academic documents starting from the 10th. For graduate admissions, individual mark sheets to transcripts along with the degree certificate are mandatory along with the 10th and 12th marks card.
2. IELTS scorecard
English Proficiency test result score has to be submitted along with the academic documents. As per the UK immigration rule, a university can waive off the English language requirement as an entry criterion, then it is not a mandatory document for the visa. The decision to waive off the English language requirement as a condition for admissions is the respective university's discretion, and the decision is made based on the English language score at the academic level and the program the student has applied to. However, a few universities make the requirement mandatory if the student has a 5-year educational gap though their English score in 12th is above 80 percent. Hence, it is advisable that students clear the exam rather than wait till the last minute.
